Welcome! I’m Charlie. I am a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows. I’m currently writing a book examining the creative possibilities of idleness and leisure, tentatively titled The Mind at Play, to be published by Pantheon Books.

I am widely published as an essayist and critic. My writing has appeared in the New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Yale Review, Bookforum, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Baffler, The Boston Globe, Jewish Currents, The Hedgehog Review, Public Books, The Point, and elsewhere, and my work has been translated into multiple languages.

I am represented by Julia Eagleton at Janklow & Nesbit.

I grew up in North Carolina and am the youngest member (by two minutes) of a set of fraternal triplets.

Please get in touch! You can email me at charlie.sam.tyson@gmail.com. I also tweet, sporadically, @CharlieTyson1.
